Excuse the vulnerability

It’s not always fun and games out here! There’s so much that goes into being a live musician. I mean from the outside it looks like we get paid to drink beers and play music haha which is true but that’s just one little part. People don’t see the countless hours of practice, the people who mess you around with bookings, cancelling, not paying. The days where you watch a video of yourself playing and you question your talent. But the thing that gets me the most is when you’re having one of those days where you just don’t feel like seeing anyone, not only do you have to bite the bullet and do it, you have to act like you’re enjoying it! Annnnnd you have to put up with people who complain when you don’t know a song they want to hear, when they insist “yeah you do know it!” Don’t get me wrong I LOVE my job and I am so grateful for it! Easily the best one I’ve ever had, I just think there’s a lot of pressure and it’s important to not ignore the feelings it brings up. That’s why after a busy last couple of months I’m taking a week off and staying at a farm by myself for one week to write and hopefully record some originals. I’m kind of nervous but excited at the same time. I don’t think I’ve ever isolated myself for a week and that alone is quite scary. However, I am super excited to have zero distractions, just my instruments and me to see what I come up with and to have some down time out of the city! I’m going to bring my dog too! He will be STOKED to be out of the city for a bit!

Last week I played Bar Broadway, that’s my regular Wednesday now and I honestly couldn’t thank the staff there enough, they are so hospitable and lovely! I love being there! Charlie and Frank’s Friday, another bunch of absolute legends! I also met a couple who’s wedding I will be playing at, super nice to meet them in person before the wedding. Then Ravesis on Saturday, drunken party dancing fun! Had to learn a couple T swift songs on the spot (thanks to my little sisters child hood obsession, it wasn’t too difficult) and then to Huskisson on Sunday. My girlfriend came with me too and we stayed over night! We saw a whale! Was a time!

Song of the week

Man what a month! I cannot believe how quick it went! I only lost a few gigs due to Covid which is nice and there are plenty of things in the works for 2022. I went from Orange to Wollongong, down to

Well we aren't off to the best start but regardless I am excited for 2022! I have lots of plans, new venues to play, lots of weddings booked and I've been practicing piano and trumpet every day for ne
